The U.A.N.L. Tigres travel to Mexico City on Sunday to face off against América at the Estadio Universitario in the first leg of the Liga MX quarterfinal playoffs. Nuevo León (25 points) will try to dethrone a powerful América, which enters the playoffs in first place with 37 points under the direction of new manager Álvaro Galindo after former coach Miguel Herrera left to take over the duties of the Mexican national team. The Águilas haven't lost for seven games, with the last time coming in Week 10 against Santos, and apart from being the leaders in the regular season, they've also notched the most victories (11 in the regular season). On top of that, their defense has been superb, only allowing 12 goals; Raúl Jiménez has helmed their offense to great effect, knocking in seven of the team's 31 goals. On the other side of the pitch is Ricardo Ferreti's Tigres, who behind Alan Pulido's seven goals this season were able to sneak into the playoffs. They come in in pretty good shape, too, having not lost since Week 13.

América will start Francisco Javier Rodríguez, Aquivaldo Mosquera, Juan Carlos Valenzuela, Adrián Alexei Aldrete, Paul Aguilar, Rubens Sambueza, Juan Carlos Medina, Raúl Alonso Jiménez, Osvaldo Martínez, and Luis Gabriel Rey, with Moisés Muñoz at goalkeeper. The Tigres' lineup will look like this: Juninho, Jorge Torres Nilo, José Arturo Rivas, Carlos Salcido, Danilinho, Damián Ariel Álvarez, Lucas Lobos, Guido Hernán Pizarro, Jesús Alberto Dueñas, and Alan Pulido.
