As part of Apple’s12 Days of Gifts” promotion via iTunes and the App Store the company is giving Martin Scorsese’s Academy Award-winning film “Hugo” free for iTunes users in the United States and Canada. While internationally customers receive the holiday classic “Home Alone.” Since the promotion started this has been the most valuable gift given to customers. This is the fifth day of the “12 Days of Gifts” and will continue with a free gift each day until January 6th.

“Hugo” is a 3D historical adventure film adaptation of Brian Selznick's novel “The Invention of Hugo Cabret.” The film is about a boy who lives alone in the Gare Montparnasse railway station in Paris. The film was directed and co-produced by Martin Scorsese and adapted for the big screen by John Logan. “Hugo” stars some big name actors including: Asa Butterfield (Ender’s Game), Chloë Grace Moretz (Kick-Ass), Ben Kingsley, Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat), Helen McCrory, Ray Winstone, Emily Mortimer, Jude Law, and Christopher Lee.

There are two ways for customers to get the film. The first is downloading “Hugo” through the “12 Days of Gifts” app or by downloading the movie from iTunes store on a Mac, PC or iOS device. More than likely “Hugo” will only be available for today so we encourage you to take advantage of the deal and download now. “Hugo” has received critical acclaim and has won multiple Oscars including Best Cinematography, Art Direction, Visual Effects, Sound Editing, and Sound Mixing. The film was also nominated for six more including Best Picture, Director, Adapted Screenplay, Original Score, Costume Design, and Film Editing.
