The latest casting addition brings hope that Season 5 of "Arrow" will perhaps introduce Hal Jordan, also known as The Green Lantern. As Screen Crush reported, Carly Pope will be joining The CW superhero series as a Coast City reporter and her character has a personal connection to the intergalactic hero Hal Jordan.

TVInsider broke the news that Pope will join "Arrow" Season 5 in a recurring role as Susan Williams. Her character is a Coast City journalist headed to Star City "looking to make a name for herself" by targeting Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) for a big story. In the comics, Pope's character is noted as the wife of Jim Jordan, Hal's brother. While that leaves fans with hope that the Green Lantern will make an appearance, we could be seeing a single Susan Williams showing up in Star City.

Previously, Pope guest starred on The CW's "The Tomorrow People" as Morgan Burke and Fox's "24" as Samantha Roth.

While it is a possibility that the Green Lantern can show up on the series, we would not hold our breath. Typically, bigger DC heroes are off the table for the TV shows and "Arrow" producers have revealed that Season 5 will be a bit more grounded than the previous season.

Meanwhile, it has also been revealed that "The Walking Dead" alum Chad L. Coleman will take on the role as the new villain Tobias Church. Additionally, Madison McLaughlin will return in a new role as the teen archer Artemis, while Rick Gonzalez will play the new vigilante Wild Dog. Echo Kellum will return as a series regular as Curtis Holt and Colton Haynes will reportedly make a return as Roy Harper for a number of episodes.

"Arrow" will return for its fifth season Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
