Barcelona will be in unfamiliar territory Wednesday when the club begins the second leg of the 2013 Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich.

Winning the 2010-2011 UEFA Champions League title, Barcelona finds themselves in a significant hole after falling in the first leg of the semi to Bayern Munich 4-0.

The second leg of the semi-final can be seen Wednesday at 2:45pm, EDT on the FX television channel. The match can also be seen on-line through the FOX Soccer 2 Go live stream.

In order to keep their Champions League title hopes alive, Barcelona will need to do something no team in the great history of the league has ever done. According to Bleacher Report, if Barcelona were to overcome the 4-goal deficit, they'd be the first to rise above that steep a margin.

While Barcelona looks for anything offensively following one of the worst performances in recent memory, Bayern Munich enters the second act flying high.

Thomas Muller was critical in the Munich success during the opening match, guiding an explosive offense with two goals of his own. Coupled with the recent success of striker Mario Gomez, Munich seems poised for a run at the title - a title the club hasn't won since 2001.

Experience does reside with this Munich club however. Falling in the Champions League final to Chelsea a year ago, this year's squad has already displayed the ability to compete at a high level and dominate the opponent, much like they did during the first leg against Barca.

Already in a big enough predicament, Barcelona will play the second leg without midfielder Jordi Alba. Alba received a late yellow card during the first match for throwing the ball in an opponent's face, leading to his suspension for Wednesday's tilt.

Barca not only trails in goal total but in manpower as well.

With Bayern Munich in top shape heading into Wednesday, two of Barca's biggest defensive cogs - Carles Puyol and Javier Mascherano - are battling injury.

Barcelona certainly did not get the outcome they wanted in the first leg of the semi-finals against Bayern Munich. With everything on the line come Wednesday, the 2010-2011 champs need to muster up the strength they had when they won their last title a couple years back.

Munich on the other hand needs to stay the course, play consistent offensively and bear down on the defensive end during this second leg. If they're able to do those things, they'll have a shot to win the title they fell just short of claiming a year ago.

Be sure to catch Barcelona and Bayern Munich resume their semi-final series Wednesday at 2:45pm, EDT. The game can be seen live on the FX channel and on-line through FOX Sports 2 Go.
