A Bollywood filmmaker's son reportedly killed himself after his father sternly asked him to stop drinking during the Holi celebration in Andheri, Maharashtra, India on Friday, March 18.

On March 18, the deceased, identified as 18-year-old Mannan, reportedly drank alcohol and celebrated Holi with his friends and family. Holi, also known as the festival of colors, is a popular Hindu festival practiced by Indians all over the world every year.

However, after coming home from the Holi celebration drunk, Mannan's father, a Bollywood filmmaker, Girish Malik, allegedly instructed him to behave politely and told him to stop drinking. Mannan then went back to his room and then allegedly took his own life by jumping off the fifth floor of the Oberoi Springs building in Andheri, the Indian Express reported.

“Mannan consumed alcohol while celebrating Holi on Friday. He continued to drink after going home and his father asked him to stop drinking. When Mannan misbehaved with his mother, the father instructed him to behave politely and went back to his room,” Senior Police Inspector Bandopant Bansode of the Amboli Police Station said.

After seeing the teen jump from the building, the family's neighbors and other apartment residents immediately rushed him to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital for treatment. However, the doctors at the facility declared him dead upon arrival.

Following the incident, the Amboli police officers have registered an accidental death case in connection with the suicide.

Girish Malik has directed and produced several Bollywood films. Some of his popular films include the 2013 movie "Jal," the 2020's "Torbaaz," and "Mann Vs Khan," which was released in 2021.
