Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski is coming off a phenomenal 2012-2013 campaign in which he led the German club to a runner-up finish in the UEFA Champions League while registering 35 goals in 45 total matches.

Despite finding tremendous success in 3 seasons with head coach Jurgen Klopp and the Bundesliga club, the 24-year-old has long desired a move to German rival Bayern Munich, the team that defeated Dortmund in the 2012-2013 Champions League Final at Wembley Stadium.

Expected to depart Borussia Dortmund by way of a free transfer in 2014, Lewandowski said recently that he plans on giving the current Supercup champions everything he has throughout this season even though there have been some problems with club members in the past.

"I will give it my all for Dortmund," he said to reporters recently. "It does not matter what happened. It does not interest me on the pitch. When I am out there and play, I only think about BVB. I want to give my best and be successful."

Guiding Dortmund to a recent 4-2 win over Bayern Munich in the aforementioned Supercup, Lewandowski did not register a goal but was involved on Marco Reus's opening goal in the sixth minute.

The news coming from Lewandowski that he will give his all to Borussia Dortmund this season will surely sit well with Dortmund chief executive Aki Watzke.

Watzke said back in June that Lewandowski would be free to join Bayern Munich before the start of the 2014 season if he chooses to do so and even though he could understand why the striker grew upset after Munich did not put in an offer for his services this year, his current club expects a full effort every time he takes the pitch.

"I can understand he is disappointed," Watzke said to The Independent. "If I was him I'd also be disappointed to hear about FC Bayern not making an offer for him. What I expect from him now is to show the strength in character he has shown over the past years and cope with the situation on a professional level."

"I am confident that he will do so. 2014, when his contract runs out, he is welcome to join Munich," he continued. "I can only call off the wish I know about. Why should I bother about other clubs when all we know about is that he only wants to join Bayern?"

While Robert Lewandowski will certainly be relied upon this season with the Bundesliga club, expect to hear more about his growing desire to join Bayern Munich, especially when the end of this season approaches.
