Cantinflas' grandson, Gabriel Moreno Bernal, is homeless and begging for food and money on the streets of Mexico City. Gabriel is the younger brother of Mario Moreno Bernant, who was found dead in a Mexican hotel from an apparent suicide in late June.

"It is not because I needed money that I left home, but due to lack of attention because everything was problemes," Gabriel Moreno said. "My father in 16 years has not given me money and has never asked for me. After my brother died I had no more reasons to stay at home because he was all to me."

Gabriel is 20 years of age and claims to have only finished elementary school because his father, Mario Moreno Ivanova, did not pay for his studies. It is Ivanova who Gabriel blames on the death of his older brother, due to the bad atmosphere that he was living in that turned him into depression.
"To be honest, people have been very nice, they give me bread or a taco to eat, they do what my father never did for me, he doesn't care if I ate or if I'm in good health."
