Erika Kirk, widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, delivered a stark message to critics and conspiracy theorists, including Charlie's friend and former colleague at Turning Point USA, Candace Owens, during a CBS News town hall moderated by new Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss.
The one-hour CBS town hall, scheduled to air on Saturday evening, will be pre-recorded at a New York studio where Kirk will take questions from various political and religious leaders regarding her late husband and her plans for the future of his organization, Turning Point USA.
During the town hall, Weiss asked Kirk what she had to say to Owens and "the other people putting these lies into the world right now," regarding the narrative surrounding Charlie's assassination. Kirk replied, "Stop. That's it. That's all I have to say. Stop."
Last week, Kirk was asked a similar question on Fox News about people who think that Charlie is still alive, and her response was, "Can I have one thing? Can my children have one thing? Everything was public. We will be building the most beautiful memorial for my husband...Can my babies have one thing where we hold it sacred, where my husband is laid to rest, where I don't have to worry about some secular revolutionary coming and destroying my husband's grave while my daughter is sitting there praying."
Kirk's statements come almost exactly three months after her husband, Charlie Kirk's assassination on September 10, 2025, while speaking at a campus event at Utah Valley University (UVU). The suspect, 22-year-old Tyler James Robinson, has been charged with aggravated murder and other offenses. Authorities and mainstream media have repeatedly stressed there is no credible evidence of broader conspiracies related to the assassination.
Despite official findings, Owens, once a close associate of Charlie Kirk and a former communications director at Turning Point USA, has repeatedly questioned aspects of the killing on her podcast and social platforms. Owens has thrown doubt on the conclusion that Robinson acted alone, suggested government misinformation, and even implied foreign entities, like Israel, may have been involved.
The political commentator had been skeptical of the official record about Kirk's murder almost from day one. She began expressing her suspicions almost immediately after it happened, stating, "let's chase down every lead and leave no stone unturned. Charlie would do the same if he were alive." She established an email for tips to find out, "Who called the hit on Charlie?"
About a week after the shooting, Owens claimed that Charlie was the subject of an intervention in the Hamptons earlier this year involving billionaire investor Bill Ackman and Seth Dillon, CEO of the satirical outlet The Babylon Bee. According to Owens, Kirk was offered "a ton of money" if he would soften or abandon his criticisms of Israel, and she alleged that even Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had reached out to him.
"There were threats made to Charlie," Owens said, characterizing the meeting as a coercive effort to control Kirk's positions. She added that the intervention centered on demands tied to pro-Israel groups and suggested Kirk had resisted lucrative funding offers connected to those interests.
Ackman called the allegations "totally false" and insisted that no threats or offers of money were ever made to Kirk.
This afternoon @RealCandaceO slandered me by accusing me of 'staging an intervention' with Charlie Kirk in which 'threats were made' with respect to his supposed 'evolving stance' on Israel at an event I hosted in the Hamptons. Candace also intimated that I 'blackmail[ed]'… https://t.co/mL6pajoX76

On her podcast last month, Owens went on to claim that "undercover operatives" infiltrated her exclusive book club and recorded clips of her talking about the murder. According to her, they spun her comments to make it look like she was blaming Erika for it. She also discussed the presence of two Egyptian military planes seen at Provo Airport, near UVU, on the day of Kirk's murder, and that those specific planes had been following Erika since 2022.
