Cristiano Ronaldo Plane Crash: Soccer Star Not On Aircraft, Pilot Suffers Minor Injuries

Cristiano Ronaldo has just gotten quite a scare! The real Madrid soccer star’s private plane crashed in Barcelona this past Monday. Luckily for Ronaldo, he was not on board.

According to ESPN, the cause of the plane crash appears to be technical. The landing gear broke down as it was nearing Barcelona’s El Prat airport on Monday. This caused the plane to run off the runway upon landing. Scary stuff!

Eyewitnesses say that emergency services rushed to the scene after the malfunction.

According to The Mirror, a runway was closed for a short period of time while the pilot was attended to for minor injuries. Images of the damage began to circulate this morning following the crash.

Thanks to the pilot’s quick thinking no one was severely injured in the accident. The private jet is said to seat eight passengers and a crew of two but there is no word on how many people were on board during the crash.

The soccer star was in Germany at the time with his team in preparation for a match against Borussia Dortmund. The game resulted in a draw with the score of 2-2.

Ronaldo leases the private jet out of the Gulfstream G200, for which he pays a reported 19 euros to corporate clients when he is not using it.

Ronaldo has not spoken out about the crash but is more so focused on his rough week. Rumors have been circulating that the soccer star had a dispute with Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane after he was taken off the field during the game against Borussia Dortmund.

Thankfully Ronaldo is safe and sound. As of right now the only damages reported are the undercarriage and the landing gear.
