Rosario Dawson is no stranger to the world of activism. After openly protesting on a range of issues from politics to social issues, the Latina actress is praising fellow actress Shailene Woodley for her recent efforts.
According to FOX News Latino, Woodley made headlines on Monday for being arrested during a pipeline protest in North Dakota. Dawson gave the starlet kudos for standing up for what’s right via social media.

“Protecting sacred land’s and honor/duty! Proud of @ShaileneWoodley for taking a stand!,” the actress wrote on Twitter.
Woodley was with a small group of people protesting the four-state Dakota Access pipeline on mile south of St. Anthony in south-central North Dakota, where construction of the pipeline is currently taking place.
The site reports that the actress participated in the protest for more than two-and-a-half hours before being arrested by local authorities.

The protest was live-streamed to fans on Facebook Live as people watched the actress be told by law enforcement that she is being arrested for criminal trespassing.
I don't know if you guys just heard me, but I was walking back to my RV, which is right there so that we can go back to camp peacefully and they grabbed me by my jacket and said that I was not allowed to continue,” she said. “And they had giant guns and batons and zip ties and they're not letting me go.”
.@shailenewoodley was arrested for protecting our planet. Maybe we should start arresting the people destroying it? #FreeShailene #NoDAPL pic.twitter.com/7RnZrCOt6l

Despite the video appearing to show a peaceful protest, law enforcement officials arrested all the protestors.
When the actress tried to ask the officer a question, he responded: “We can’t talk right here, but you’re going to be placed under arrest for criminal trespassing.”
Morton County Sheriff's Department spokesman Rob Keller said Woodley was one of 27 protesters arrested Monday. She was also charged with engaging in a riot.
