Former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer is defending his casting for “Dancing with the Stars” Season 28. Some critics are protesting the decision to include him on the show but he is not letting these comments faze him.

New York Times critic and “DWTS” host Tom Bergeronhimself questioned why he is being included on the show, prompting Spicer to shot back. According to Spicer, he is “very comfortable” with who he is and not minding such comments. “I’ve never really cared what they think,” Spicer said of The Times. “I’m not going to care now.”

Spicer is also confident that one day, when the season is done and over with, his inclusion will be perceived in the positive instead of the negative, especially by Tom. He believes that him being part of it will show that Americans can disagree with each other on politics and yet agree what makes good entertainment.

“I think Tom has been a great host. And I firmly believe when the season is over he’s probably going to realize bringing a diverse group of people together, who can interact in a fun, civil and respectful way, is actually a way we can move the country forward in a positive way. And it will make this show an example of how Americans can disagree about politics and tune into good entertainment shows and keep their politics at bay,” Spicer shared to Fox News.

He also revealed that there was already an offer to join the show as early as 2017 but he felt it was not the right time then.

In his Twitter statement objecting Spicer’s casting, Bergeron claimed that his main suggestion to DWTS’ new executive producer on Season 28 was for it to stay far, far away from politics. He wanted the show to be fun instead, giving viewers a temporary respite from the “exhausting” political climate America now has. He suggested keeping the casting as free as possible from any political affiliations, but this did not happen. He believes that as the show’s host, he has the responsibility of making viewers forget about their life hassles.

He hopes that this will remain possible when the show airs on September 16.

ABC staffers, however, are adamant that Spicer’s inclusion on the show is a “slap in the face.”

"It's a slap in the face to those of us who had to deal with his baloney and the consequences of the ongoing lies and disinformation campaign at the White House," one of the staffers said, as reported by the CNN.

Watch Alfonso Ribeiro Surprise ‘DWTS’ Fans With ‘The Carlton’ Dance!
If you don’t love “The Carlton” then you have a heart of stone, the dance which was literally imitated by a generation of loyal fans finally returned to it’s originator, Alfonso Ribeiro, last night on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.” The actor who portrayed Carlton Banks on the 90’s hit sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” admitted that despite the success of the role and signature dance move, he wasn’t always proud of it. Following the success of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” Ribeiro, who had embodied Carlton for the pervious six seasons, had unfortunately become type casted. Before dancing with partner Whitney Carson for a perfect 40, Ribeiro explained casting directors would turn him away due to his notable Carlton persona, but now he has welcomed back the memories of his character and of course his favorite dance moves and was more than ready to break them out on “Dancing with the Stars.”  Youtube
