The Daytime Emmy Awards 2014 were held this evening at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California. For the first time, the Television Academy would recognize programming in Spanish, where various of our favorite shows were awarded. One thing the gala settled as a winner in the morning show wars as it awarded Telemundo's "Un Nuevo Día" with the Outstanding Morning Program In Spanish. The breakfast show that has had a massive turnover in on-air talent was favored over the long-running "Despierta América." In the Outstanding Daytime Talent in Spanish category, Rodner Figueroa was the winner of the accolade for his work as fashion critic on "El Gordo y la Flaca." Figueroa beat out his co-workers Carlos Calderón, Alejandra Espinoza and Lili Estefan. How awkward is the set going to be? The gossip show was also nominated for Outstanding Entertainment Program, but was defeated by "Clix" from CNN En Español.

"The growth of Spanish-language media over the last 50 years has been very closely followed by our organization," NATAS chairman Malachy Wienges said last year. "American television is changing at a rapid pace, driven by the growth of multicultural audiences who often speak more than one language. The Spanish-language media continues to grow exponentially each year, and NATAS believes it is long-overdue that we recognize its excellence in our industry." The categories that will be added to the roster will honor a morning program, entertainment program and daytime talent in Spanish. Univision lead the pack with 6 nominations followed by CNN En Español with 4 and mun2 and Telemundo with 1.
