When "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" returns for Season 2 this fall viewers will see a familar character alongside our heroes. The CW has revealed to TV Insider that the character of Vixen will be joining the "Arrow" and "Flash" spin-off as a series regular.

Megalyn E.K. originated the role of the DC Comics hero first in the animated CW Seed short series "Vixen," as Mari McCabe, who is a Detroit vigilante imbued with the animalistic powers of a sacred totem. The actress later reprised the role in live-action form on an episode of "Arrow" Season 4.

But now due to her busy schedule, E.K. will not be able to reprise her role as Vixen. The actress just finished wrapping A&E's "Damien" this past spring and is already working in Atlanta on the sorority comedy "Step Sisters" with Eden Sher and Matt McGorry.

Instead of recasting E.K., the show will instead introduce a new Vixen who will actually be an alternate version of Vixen. Thanks to Rip Hunter's (Arthur Darvill) affinity for time-traveling, viewers will meet an earlier version of the character who may or may not share some history with E.K.'s character. Casting is currently ongoing for the role.

TV Insider also confirmed that E.K. will voice Vixen in the second season of the CW Seed animated series. The site also said the door was left open for the actress to reprise her role as Vixen in any of the DC shows.

Meanwhile, showrunner Phil Klemmer teased what's to come in the second season revealing the first episode of Season 2 will very much be a new pilot with new good guys, new bad guys, new stakes, new dynamics and new goals, reports IGN. He further went on to say the show will have a different tone because the heroes will have a totally different purpose. The season will also introduce members of the Justice Society of America.

"DC's Legends of Tomorrow" season two is slated to debut in the fall on The CW.
