Devious Maids

Calling all "Desperate Housewives" fans! If you thought you would only experience the drama, naughtiness and numerous mysteries surrounding the cast watching re-runs of the former Marc Cherry creation, you're very wrong. This time, the producer, along with Eva Longoria, bring us those same elements and a leading cast of four sexy Latinas in the new Lifetime series, "Devious Maids."

You know it's going to be a show worth watching when, within the first five minutes of the show, someone gets stabbed and their lifeless body is thrown to the pool in the middle of a lavish party in California. And so we said goodbye to Flora (could she be the next Mary Alice?), played by Paula Garcés.

Meanwhile, Marisol (Ana Ortiz) is the new maid in town who had just taken a job with the Stappords, but also volunteers to assist the Powells to clean up the mess after their maid is murdered. Why did she do that? Don't worry, we find out at the end of the show.

Zoila (Judy Reyes) and her daughter Valentina (Edy Ganem) work for Genevieve Delatour (Susan Lucci) and her son Remi (Drew Van Acker). Genevieve is a prescription drug addict who relies on her maid to do everything, but Zoila has extra work since her daughter and co-worker Valentina set eyes on Remi and she has to keep her "grounded," to avoid any conflicts (we all know that's not going to happen, right?).

Now on to maid number 3. Carmen (Roselyn Sánchez) works for Alejandro Rubio (Matt Cedeño), who is a famous Latin singer. Carmen herself is a struggling musician desperate for her big break. However, she and her employer's European nanny, Odessa, butt heads when Carmen tries to get closer to her boss to play him her music. After sending the nanny down a flight of stairs, the sexy maid is one step closer to Alejandro and her dreams.

And finally, Rosie (Dania Ramírez) works as a nanny for Spence and Perri Westmore (Grant Show and Mariana Klaveno) and takes care of their baby boy as she struggles to bring her own son Miguel from Guadalajara to the United States. Rosie finds herself in a crossroad when she has a meeting with an immigration lawyer and her boss doesn't let her take the day off.

Before Flora was killed, she was threatened by her employer Evelyn Powells (Rebecca Wisocky). Mrs. Powells told her that if she didn't stop sleeping with her husband, she would find a way to deport her. Meanwhile, Adrian Powells (Tom Irwin) said he was seduced by the maid. To make things more complicated, Flora leaves a note stating that she was raped. Could her boss have raped her? That's another mystery for the following episodes.

After Flora was stabbed a waiter was blamed, but the Powells believe there's a much more sinister killer. They decided to do "less than nothing" to avoid drawing attention to them.

At the end of the episode, Marisol visits a prison to speak to her son, who turns out to be the waiter charged with Flora's murder.

Following the packed pilot, my "devious" mind starts to wonder: why does Marisol's appearance coincided with Flora's death? Could she have done it and then the plan backfired when her son was arrested? Also, who is the father of Marisol's son? Could it be a former employer or even Adrian Powell? (It was already shown that he has a thing for hot maids). Maybe Marisol used to work for the Powells under a different name when she was younger and left after getting pregnant, and now has returned to seek vengeance? Vengeance from who? Maybe Mrs. Powell found out she was pregnant and kicked her out. Or maybe Mrs. Powell killed Flora because she was pregnant and that rules out the whole "Marisol killed Flora" theory.

Also, how long will we have to wait until Alejandro Rubio sleeps with Carmen? (Let's face it, it has to happen). And how long until Genevieve discovers the affair between her son and the maid's daughter? Will she even care? How do you think she will react?

This show could go in so many different directions, but one thing I'm sure about is Flora's death won't be the last.
