A drunk man has been accused of brutally killing his wife after she refused to serve him dinner before proceeding to sleep with the victim's corpse not realizing that his wife was already dead in Fatehpur Beri, Delhi, India on Friday, June 17.

On Friday, June 17, the accused, identified as Vinod Kumar Dubey, 47, reportedly came home intoxicated and asked his wife Sonali Dubey, 39, to serve him dinner. However, when she refused, Dubey felt enraged and got into a heated argument with his wife.

As their confrontation escalated, in a fit of rage, Dubey allegedly brutally beat up his wife Sonali before proceeding to smother her to death with a pillow. Without realizing that he had killed his wife, Dubey slept beside Sonali's corpse later that night, the Hindu reported.

The next day, Dubey realized that he had murdered his wife. He immediately fled the scene, taking off with over US$512 (40,000 Indian Rupees) of their savings.

The incident came to light after a neighbor alerted the police of the fatal domestic episode. Following this, a team of officers reached the crime scene. The authorities subsequently launched a manhunt for Dubey. He was later tracked down and arrested in Delhi while he was trying to flee. Law enforcement recovered a cash amount of US$512 (40,000 Indian Rupees) from his pocession along with two half bottles of liquor and a blood-stained pillow, Times Now reported.

During questioning, Dubey claimed that he and his wife partook in some alcohol together on Thursday night. After drinking together, he asked Sonalu to bring food for him. However, she quickly refused his demands. This allegedly led to a heated argument between the two, and Sonali, in a fit of rage, slapped him. Sonali's smack reportedly infuriated Dubey, who in a fit of rage, started physically assaulting and brutally thrashing the victim. After a brutal beating, he then smothered her to death.
