Elon Musk intensified his public break with president Trump on Thursday, posting two messages on X that suggest deepening frustration.
In the first one post, Musk claimed that without him "Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate." He then followed up that post seconds later with another one that simply read: "such ingratitude."

Minutes later, Musk published a poll in which he suggested the creation of a new political party that "actually represents the 80% in the middle?"
Is it time to create a new political party in America that actually represents the 80% in the middle?

The remarks came just hours after Trump publicly criticized Musk over his opposition to the "One Big Beautiful Bill," the sweeping tax and spending plan backed by House Republicans and central to Trump's second-term agenda.During a Trump White House press conference, Trump said that he was "very disappointed in Elon" and that he had "helped Elon a lot." He then softened his stance by adding that "Elon and I had a great relationship. I don't know if we will any more."
Musk, who led the administration's cost-cutting DOGE initiative until resigning last week, has become an outspoken opponent of the legislation. Earlier this week, he called the bill a "disgusting abomination" and warned it would increase the federal deficit by $2.5 trillion. He has urged Americans to contact their lawmakers and demand they vote against it.
Trump dismissed those concerns on Thursday, suggesting Musk's opposition was rooted in personal interests — particularly the bill's rollback of electric vehicle tax credits. Musk rebutted that claim on X:
"False, this bill was never shown to me even once and was passed in the dead of night so fast that almost no one in Congress could even read it!"
Musk's newest posts on Friday appear to shift the , positioning himself as a critical player in Trump's political success. He has previously disclosed donating over $250 million to support Trump's 2024 campaign.
