Long gone are the days of "Harry Potter" and bookish knowledge. Emma Watson has grown up in real life and on screen, and the British version of GQ is here to prove it.
In the April issue of the magazine, Watson is seen in a skimpy, barely-there dress -- not unlike the one Julia Roberts made famous in "Pretty Woman" -- with hair extensions and a slew of scattered tattoos in her lower stomach that has fans wondering if they are real.
Breathe easy though: Watson's ink is reportedly not permanent, and was only included to represent the change of pace of the actress with her character in upcoming movie "Bling Ring."
The new Sofia Coppola movie is a 180 for the British actress, who until now had been portraying sweet, strong girls with a sense of commitment and loyalty. According to GQ, that challenge was exactly what attracted Watson to the role of "Nicki," A Hollywood-based teen who belonged to a gang that robbed celebrity homes.
"I had to dive into something really different. This has been a really big departure for me, it's a really big character. That's so exciting because it meant I was really acting," said Watson. She went on to call her character, based in real life Alexis Neiers, who was charged with robbery and trespassing in 2007, "vain" and "materialistic."
Watson presented her makeover to the twittersphere during pre-production of the film, when she posted a picture in full character regalia: Ugg boots, hair extensions, and a slew of small tattoos. "Twitterers meet Nicki, Nicki meet twitters," she wrote.
The film "The Bling Ring" will be released in theaters in June 14.
