The 2014 Oscars was watched by millions of viewers worldwide. All movie watchers were captivated waiting to see if their favorite celebrities would take home the coveted and prestigious Academy Award. It was a great night for Latinos as Alfonso Cuarón, Lupita Nyong'o and Emmanuel Lubezki picked up accolades for their work in film. The latter won an Oscar for Achievement In Cinematography for the Warner Bros. produced flick "Gravity," while Nyong'o took home the Best Supporting Actress for her performance on "12 Years A Slave."

The big winner of the night was Cuarón who now has the honor of being the first Latino director to ever win an Oscar in the category! His film took a total of seven awards which included Best Director, Best Achievement In Editing, Cinematography, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing and Visual Effects. His fellow Mexicans were proud of the honor that they made "Viva Mexico Cuarones" trend on Twitter worldwide, with the phrase being a play on a popular expletive used south of the border. There was one notable Mexican resident that was very attentive to the winners of the night and was even live-tweeting as it happened. Care to guess who it was? The one and only, Enrique Peña Nieto, President of Mexico.

"Congratulations to Lupita Nyong'o, Mexican by birth, for her interpretative strength that have made her an Oscar winner," he wrote after the actress won in her category up against last year's winner Jennifer Lawrence. As the ceremony progressed more winners were revealed and this time, the President congratulated Lubezki for "the photographic language in 'Gravity,' as it is a great contribution for the universal cinema." He later added, "The Oscar for Best Director to Alfonso Cuarón is the result of his talent, effort and vision. Extraordinary job! Congratulations! The Oscar for Best Director for 'Gravity' is the result of the Cuaron's lifelong in movies." Peña Nieto concluded by writing, "Congratulations to the Mexicans that have won today at the Oscars; you are part of a distinguished generation of Mexican filmmakers."
