Eugenio Derbez and Alessandra Rosaldo announced back in January after the Golden Globes that they were expecting their first child together. A few days ago, Alessandra took it to Twitter to reveal she’s having a baby girl. “Indeed, a wanted, dreamed, and deeply loved GIRL is on her way. Thanks for your congratulations and beautiful and kind words,” she wrote.
After the news broke, many began speculating on the name of the baby, and rumor had it the couple was going to name the child Silvia, because that’s the name of Eugenio’s mom. However, Rosaldo revealed they had another name in mind, a little bit more unusual: Aitana. It’s a Basque name that means “glory” and Alessandra actually had suggested it to Eugenio a while ago.
“It’s a name that I’ve liked for a while. Sometime I suggested it to Eugenio about two or three years ago. He took it and it surprised me that he put it in the credits at the end of his movie. Precisely that was the first thought dedicated to Aitana, that in that moment was a dream, but now is a reality,” Alessandra said in an interview.
Although Eugenio already has three other kids, Aislinn, Vadhir and José Eduardo, he had always wanted to have another girl. “He’s so happy, so happy. He’s in the clouds,” said Rosaldo about her husband. She added that people have started sending gifts for the baby and they also have started all the pre-birth shopping. “We already began to get some gifts, and we’ve also started shopping for some clothes. We still haven’t gotten into the baby nursery, but at least we have a few things already.”
Alessandra is due in July, and it’s most likely that baby Aitana will be born in Los Angeles, since her parents will be staying in the city due to their work schedule. Congratulations again to the couple!
