With the recent boom of "Flappy Bird" that was later discontinued by its creator, Puerto Rican programmers created a game called "Flappy Agapito" as a political satire. This name Agapito is a nickname given to Puerto Rican governor Alejandro Garcia Padilla by political commentator Luis Davila Colon stemming from his initials AGP.

The concept of the game is more or less the same as Flappy Bird, but there are some significant differences. Instead of the bird being the main character, it is a dollar bill with wings, and instead of the tubes being like the ones in Flappy Bird, they are trashcans. The game starts off with the voice of the governor saying “let’s push this country forward.” Every time the dollar moves you can hear his voice say the word “deficit.” When the dollar hits one of the trash cans, the money you have collected is the amount you have collected to help with the territory’s government public debt.

Puerto Ricans are trying to find humorous ways to cope during this difficult economic crisis the island is going through, this in part due to the recent credit degradation of Puerto Rico by Standard and Poor’s, Moody’s, and Fitch who declared it junk. When asked about this game, Nitza Pabon, an economics student at the Universidad de Puerto Rico and currently in her Senior year, commented “I think it is a very creative adaptation. I was curious and when I saw ‘Flappy Agapito’ it caught my attention and I couldn’t resist playing it. It is very well done.”

Maybe the islanders should put their heads together to find a way to solve the economic crisis once and for all.
