In the first seven months alone, a total of 522,821 Ford Focus models have been sold, translating to an average of 74,688 units per month. Based on that figure, Ford is not only on track to beat last year's sales number of 860,000 Focus models worldwide, but the Focus is ahead of both the 2012 Toyota Corolla and the 2012 Volkswagen Golf as well, the two strongest sales volume contenders.
The Dearborn, Michigan, automaker continues to refine and perfect its "One Ford" strategy for production and sales. Now, the Ford Focus is distributed to more than 100 countries. Currently, Ford has sold 5.5 percent more Focus models than Toyota has sold its Corolla. Unless Toyota finds enough momentum for a year-end surge, then the Ford Focus will run away with the title for the best selling vehicle in the world of 2012.
Beyond the Ford Focus' sales success, Ford also announced that a new Focus produced at the Rayong, Thailand Facility marks the 350 millionth Ford vehicle to roll off the production line since the American automaker was first founded in 1903. Ford Executive Vice President John Fleming said, "Consider, for a moment, the enormity of 350 million vehicles. It's equivalent to producing one vehicle every 10 seconds for 109 years; and, if placed end to end, would stretch to the moon and back - twice."
An enormous achievement 109 years in the making, Ford Motor Co. has every right to boast.
