San Diego’s District Attorney's Office announced that Matt Araiza, former Bills and San Diego State University Punter, will not be charged in the gang rape of a 17-year-old girl last year. The two other players named, Zavier Leonard and Nowlin “Pa’a” Ewaliko, are both no longer on the SDSU roster.

The incident with the girl took place at an off-campus party on October 17, 2021, and was reported to the police the day after. A civil suit was filed in August 2022 and then Araiza was released by the Bills shortly after. The civil suit remains ongoing.

Araiza released a statement that read "I am grateful that the District Attorney and the San Diego Police Department have discovered all the facts and found no criminal wrongdoing. I am excited to continue my NFL career."

Araiza was a sixth-round draft pick of the 2022 draft by the Buffalo Bills. He appeared in just one game.
