“Game of Thrones” season 4 premiere is almost here, but while we patiently wait for the last few weeks to trickle by there is not much to do other than speculate on what will occur during the opening episode. Apparently even HBO knew what our plan was and decided to release the episode 1 synopsis nearly a month before the premiere date. So with a brand new season, multiple spoiler filled trailers, and now the season 4 episode 1 synopsis, fans are in for a treat because it’s time for a “Two Swords” preview. Oh right, “Two Swords,” for those of you who didn’t know is the name of the season 4 premiere, which in its self is rather telling!

The synopsis for “Two Swords” reads, “Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) welcomes a guest to King’s Landing. At Castle Black, Jon Snow (Kit Harington) finds himself unwelcome. Dany (Emilia Clarke) is pointed to Meereen, the mother of all slave cities. Arya (Maisie Williams) runs into an old friend.”

Remember way back when Tyrion served in his father’s place as Hand of the King, well while fans didn’t watch the engage, the imp invited the Martells to court and a rather revered set on the King’s small council. Now returning to court himself, Tywin feels that he has eliminated his enemies after his scheme to slaughter the Starks succeeded, however he didn’t’ consider his youngest sons invitation that landed his latest enemy literally on his door step. Fans have caught a quick glimpse of Oberyn Martell, who is regarding throughout the Seven Kingdoms as the Red Viper, and the image is menacing, he walks past a candle teasing the flame, and quips to Tyrion that Lannisters are not the only ones who pay their debts. The debt to be paid is something that will be uncovered throughout season 4, but it spans all the way back to the time of Robert’s Rebellion.

As for the Jon Snow at Castle Black, the promo videos for season 4 of “Game of Thrones” have shown a surmounting invasion and war with the wildlings. In these quick clips, fans noted that Jon seems very much back in synch with the men of the Night’s Watch however, this is not true of the brothers in “Two Swords.” Jon is not welcomed back to the Night’s Watch with open arms, instead he is met with resistance from some of the brothers he brand him a traitor and a turn cloak. For most the season 4 premiere Jon will be attempting to explain his time with the wildlings, and especially his relationship with Ygritte.

While the Iron Throne is still occupied by the hated King Joffrey Baratheon, Dany is not giving up her desire to reclaim her birthright and serve as the rightful Queen of Westeros. Unfortunately, despite being the Mother of Dragons, she is still young and naïve in terms of serving as an accountable ruler. Fans will witness a true metamorphosis of Dany is season 4, starting in episode 1 “Two Swords.” After liberating multiple slave cities, and her massive Unsullied army, Dany has set her sights on “the mother of all slave cities” Meereen. For the promo videos for season 4, we know that Dany will experience trouble in Meereen, especially with her unrelenting unsubjects who disagree with her no slave policy. Dany will attempt to prove herself as a capable and strong Queen of Meereen in the season 4 premiere, however she must first take the city.

Lastly in the “Game of Thrones” season 4 premiere the synopsis claims that Arya runs into an old friend. We know that Arya and the Hound are still traveling the countryside together, after nearly missing the Red Wedding, Arya has nowhere to go, and neither doe the Hound. Arya’s journey from the youngest Stark daughter into a true wolf will occur in season 4, as for the premiere episode “Two Swords,” Arya will most likely attempt to venture from her old life, into a new one.
