Zimmerman's mother and Martin's mother both stated that each of their son's was the one screaming for help. Each mother identified her son as the victim.
Controversies about racial profiling have been attached to the Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman case. The prosecution suggested that Zimmerman profiled Martin because he was a young black male wearing a hoodie.
The defense says Zimmerman shot Martin because the teen violently attacked the former neighborhood watch captain smashing the back of his head against a concrete curb.
One controversy in the Zimmerman trial is the defense's desire to show texts and images from Trayvon Martin that show the teen was troubled. These texts and images depict the 17-year-old Florida kid, smoking weed, taking photos flipping off the camera, and even holding a handgun which texts sent from Martin's phone suggest he was trying to sell.
Texts Martin sent to friends suggest that the teen was violent. He sent messages talking about a fight he had in school. In the text Martin says the other boy he was fighting with did not bleed enough in his opinion.
The defense was denied admission of these texts and images by the judge who said they were immaterial to the case. Now it is possible the defense will try to get this material entered into evidence again since the prosecution brought up issues of George Zimmerman's past.
