Yes, Food Network star Giada de Laurentiis was the latest victim of a knife while filming the network's live Thanksgiving special alongside Alton Brown, Bobby Flay and Ina Garten. The celebrity chef, 43, sliced her finger after her knife slipped while she was trying to cut some turkey she had just prepared. "She seemed to go pale and got very quiet putting pressure on it and whispering to Ina that it was bad," an eyewitness told Radar Online. "She looked like she was about to faint."
Sources say the celebrity cook went silent after the injury, but tried to soldier on. However, when it became clear she would faint, the show cut to commercials and De Laurentiis stepped away to receive medical attention. It took only about 15 minutes before she was all fixed up and ready to go back on the set. She explained it had bled quite a bit but with a cold compress and lots of pressure, the on-set medic had gotten it to stop.
Giada returned with a great attitude, and even posted on her Instagram account a picture showing the deep cut on her index finger. "Before & After," she captioned the photo showing the cut that ran along the side of her finger to her nail. "An adjustment to my normal mani! #backtonormalin2wks #thanksgivinglive." However, she wasn't the only one taking the whole situation as a joke. Chef Alton Brown also joined in the social media fun and tweeted, "#savegiada's finger." In another tweet, he wrote, "We did locate the end of Giada's left index finger in the stuffing. Rushing to hospital now," which Giada replied to with a smiley face.
