Was Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey an act of vengeance against the British Royal Family?

As cited in the Independent, the Duke of Sussex reportedly gave a nod to doing a no-holds-barred chat with the iconic show host (who also happens to be Harry and Meghan’s neighbor) after learning he was stripped off of his military titles. The claims were made by a source— on the condition of anonymity— that Harry expressed his interest in going ahead with the Winfrey chat within 24 hours after the final Megxit deal was struck.

On 12 February 2021, Prince Charles’ younger son was stripped off of three titles namely Captain General Royal Marines, handed down by late Prince Philip, Diving, Royal Naval Command, and Honorary Air Commandant of RAF Honington in Suffolk, and Commodore-in-Chief Small Ships.

“Harry and Meghan were very cross before Oprah because the final Megxit separation had just been signed off which included Harry not keeping military roles,” said the source, as reported by the media outlet, adding, “That was what made him so angry. He’s very emotional and his military roles were very important to him given that he served.”

Megxit, quite certainly, didn’t go down well with Queen Elizabeth, owing to which the stripping of titles that meant the Sussexes having to return their honorary military appointments and royal patronages, Instyle reported.

The speculations however make a great deal of sense, because Harry categorically mentioned in the interview that he was “hurt” by his grandma, the Queen’s decision to strip him of royal patronages and honorary titles. “I am hurt. But at the same time, I completely respect my grandmother’s decision,” stated Harry in the explosive chat, which aired in CBS in March this year.

Reiterating how he would love to support the organizations he’s worked for in the past, irrespective of the titles or roles, Harry expressed heartfelt reverence to the organizations in the impassioned interview. Meghan however suggested that stripping Harry off of his titles was always on the royal radar, even before knowing about the Oprah interview. “This decision that was made about patronages and all of that was before anyone knew that we were sitting down with you,” she said while speaking to Winfrey.
