Angelina Jolie is one of the strongest women known in Hollywood. How she journeyed through life, from being an A-list actress, an amazing Goodwill ambassador, and a mom to her six children, no one can say she’s never not brave. Maybe playing Lara Croft is an already enough sign. But more importantly, she could also be considered the perfect mom today, for teenage boys and girls, which can be quite hard to parent.
Jolie is not just the actress people love and respect, she’s also a mom to emulate. She’s currently a single mom to six children, brothers and sisters, Maddox Jolie-Pitt, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne, but it is apparent that she has brought them up well. Her teenagers are so well-adjusted, a mean feat for teenagers, in general, these days, especially for children of those in the entertainment industry.
According to People magazine, Jolie’s oldest son Maddox Jolie-Pitt is already college-bound. Not only is he attending university, but he’s also attending one that is miles and miles away from his mom and America. He’ll be studying biochemistry at South Korea’s Yonsei University, one of the top schools in the country. “He got accepted to other universities but choose Yonsei,” a source shared. “He has been studying Korean language. He has lessons multiple times a week to prepare."
Jolie naturally has some usual mommy sadness since her kid is going away, and not even within the country, but she is ready to let him go and explore. “Mom is dropping him off in August,” the source said. “She is very proud. She will miss seeing him as much, but he’s ready.”
The actress reportedly helped him with his college applications. They were spotted touring New York University’s college campus back in February. However, it was as early as November 2018 when they went to Seoul, South Korea to look at his college options.
Jolie cannot be commended only for how supported she is of her son’s choices. She could also be commended for raising them to be respectful of women. In her Elle cover essay, she said that she is very proud of her sons because they are growing into men who respect women.
Also, in this essay, it could be felt that she is very nurturing of her daughters too, raising them to be strong and independent. She wrote that she goes beyond making sure they look good and pretty. She prioritized making them strong and intelligent.
“I often tell my daughters that the most important thing they can do is to develop their minds. You can always put on a pretty dress, but it doesn’t matter what you wear on the outside if your mind isn’t strong. There is nothing more attractive—you might even say enchanting—than a woman with an independent will and her own opinions.
With a mom like this, one can surely grow up to be great.
