Kate Middleton had reportedly always known that Prince William was a playboy. And contrary to rumors, it’s not Prince Harry who has a way with women.

A source previously told Daily Mail that the Duchess of Cambridge knew that her husband always had a roving eye, and she had no choice but to accept it. After all, the mom of three really wanted to marry the second in line to the throne.

“He has always had a roving eye, far more so than Harry, who is meant to be the family playboy,” the source said. “That’s something Kate has always known and accepted — it was part of the deal if you like. I suppose in that respect, she would have made a perfect Princess of Wales. What has changed in recent months, however, is the way in which the public was starting to view Kate as a future princess,” the source added.

But even though Kate accepted Prince William’s playboy side, the couple’s relationship still ended briefly in 2007. The Duchess of Cambridge desperately wanted Prince William to propose to her, but he didn’t. After all, the future king felt that all the fun in their long-term relationship had died down.

Kate’s friend also told the publication that in 2007, the future queen consort was already expecting a formal engagement announcement from Clarence House. However, she was shocked to know that at that time, Prince William wasn’t ready to settle down with her.

Luckily for Kate, Prince William had a change of heart just months after he called it quits. The Duke of Cambridge decided to get back together with Kate, and she accepted him. Three years later, the couple tied the knot at Westminster Abbey.

But prior to this, Kate’s family was first blamed for the royal couple’s split. In the documentary “William & Kate: The Journey,” royal commentator Duncan Larcombe said that Kate’s family background was one of the triggers for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s breakup.

“One or two people in William’s inner circle may have had that view,” he said. “They [Prince William’s friends] used to say ‘doors to manual’ whenever they saw Kate Middleton,” he added.
