Kate Middleton struggled with her split from Prince William, but she refused to sulk at home. Rather, the Duchess of Cambridge made sure to keep herself busy during that difficult time.
In the book “Kate: A Biography,” royal author Marcia Moody said that Kate joined her mom, Carole Middleton, to a trip to Ireland so that she could get away from London for a short period of time. While there, the mom-and-daughter duo attended the viewing exhibition of Carole’s friend, Gemma Billington.
Kate and Carole were also on hand at the champagne reception hosted by Billington. They also visited the National Gallery of Ireland.
According to Moody, shortly after Prince William and Kate split in 2007, the dad of three was thinking about reconciling with his ex-girlfriend. At that time, the Duke of Cambridge thought that he didn’t want to follow in Prince Charles’ footstep of letting the love of his life, Camilla Parker Bowles, go when they were in their twenties.
In the 1970s, the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall dated for a few years before they were forced to call it quits. Prince Charles had to leave London for his duty, and he found out later on that Camilla had agreed to marry Andrew Parker Bowles.
Camilla’s decision shocked and hurt Prince Charles, that’s why he decided to get into a relationship with Princess Diana. And even though they had just been dating for a few months, the heir to the throne rushed into marrying the Princess of Wales to mend his broken heart.
Meanwhile, Moody said that Kate didn’t immediately agree to get back together with Prince William. In fact, the mom of three needed more convincing.“He had broken her heart, and she wanted to make sure that if they did get back together it would be for the right reasons, and that she would be assured things would change,” Moody said. And on June 9, the royal couple got back together quietly.
Since then, Prince William and Kate have never split. They have been married for eight years now.
