Prince William and Kate Middleton’s split from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has been making headlines since earlier this year. Now the royal couples’ sad decision has been made official.

While speaking with Daily Mail, an insider said that the split is now official after the name of the Royal Foundation was changed. Prior to the royals’ decision to go their separate ways, their joint charity was called the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Following the split, the foundation is now simply called the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Prince William and Prince Harry set up the foundation in 2009 to focus on the causes that are close to their hearts.

And after Prince William wed Kate, the royal siblings decided to include the Duchess of Cambridge. Following Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding last year, the royals also decided to include the “Suits” alum into their foundation. However, this move didn’t last very long.

Less than a year after Meghan’s involvement in the charity, the split was announced. There are rumors suggesting that the Cambridges and Sussexes are having a hard time getting along with each other. There have also been ongoing speculations suggesting that Meghan and Kate are feuding and that Prince William and Prince Harry have not patched things up.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also created their own social media account after they separated from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Sussex Royal is being used as a platform for the royal couple to reach out to their millions of supporters.

Prince Harry and Meghan also announced the name of their foundation weeks ago. Just like the name of their Instagram account, the royal couple’s foundation is called Sussex Royal. The new parents’ foundation centers on the environment and the community.

An insider from Kensington Palace said that there is really a need for the split to happen. “These changes are designed to best complement the work and responsibilities of Their Royal Highnesses as they prepare for their future roles, and to better align their charitable activity with their new households,” the source said.
