A woman from Hyderabad, India was arrested for allegedly plotting a gang-rape against a woman who she believed had an affair with her husband.

The woman, identified only as Gayatri by police, allegedly suspected her husband, Srikanth of starting a relationship with the female victim.

It turns out that the woman had been staying with the couple at their home in Sriramnagar Colony, Kondapur while she was unwell.

But after some months, Gayatri came up with the belief that her husband and the female houseguest had a romantic relationship.

Hence, she came up with a devious revenge plan and involved five of her employees in sexually assaulting the unnamed woman.

According to police, Gayatri led the victim to a room where the five rapists were waiting. When the brutal sexual assault happened, the woman filmed it as it happened.

She made things worse when Gayatri threatened the female victim. She warned the houseguest that she would spread the film online if she tried to report the crime to authorities.

The victim ended up with injuries as a result of the sexual assault. She was taken by her parents to a hospital. Further, they filed a formal complaint against the woman with the Gachibowli police.

Arrested in connection with the incident were six people. Aside from Gayatri, apprehended were Ulsala Manoj Kumar, 22, Syed Masthan, 25, Sheikh Mujahid, 25, Sheikh Moula Ali, 32, and Pridhvi Vishnu Vardhan, 22.

The mother of the accused also added that Gayatri was previously married but left her first husband for Srikanth. However, it could not be confirmed if both Gayatri and Srikanth are officially married at the time of the incident.

Rape and sexual assault have been big problems in India. In 2020, the total number of rape cases reported in India was over 28,000.
