NFL fans get to watch the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans square off on Sunday Night Football this week. This is an extremely critical game for both teams for numerous reasons.
Let’s break down the teams and pick a winner.
Indianapolis Colts (2-3)
With a win over the Chicago Bears last week, the Colts are now 2-3 and right back in the AFC South picture. As bad as things may have appeared this year, the Colts could very well still win this division.
It starts with the defense, or lack thereof. The Colts defense ranks 30th overall in the league in both points allowed and yards allowed. The Colts secondary ranks 28th overall, and they’ve allowed more than 20 points in every single game thus far. The Colts play three of their next four games on the road.
Andrew Luck is doing a better job cutting down on the turnovers, however. This division is absolutely terrible every year, and the Colts have to take advantage of the opportunity. One of the biggest problems with the Colts is the fact that they continue to get off to slow starts. They can’t keep digging themselves out of early holes.
Houston Texans (3-2)
This is an extremely critical juncture in Texans season. The Texans are in the middle of a very tough three game stretch, they’ve lost two of the last three games, and Brock Osweiler isn’t exactly playing like a $72 million quarterback.
Regardless, the Texans do have the better record and they are the home team on Sunday night. The Texans offense, which ranks 31st overall, needs to get going because Luck and the Colts will put up some points. To many fans surprise, the Texans actually have the No. 1 pass defense in the league this season.
This is a huge game for the Texans because they have to travel to Denver next week to face the reigning Super Bowl champion Broncos.
Schedule
The Colts and Texans will play each other on Sunday night at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC. The game will be played at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. You can watch a live stream here.
Prediction
These two teams are very familiar with one another. The key difference maker could very well be the fact that J.J. Watt isn’t on the field for the Texans. Without Watt, Luck should have plenty of time to make plays in the pocket. On the other side, Osweiler hasn’t proven himself as prime time starter just yet.
Colts win 31-27
