The nominations for the International Emmys 2017 were announced today and there were major surprises with the bio-series based on the life of Juan Gabriel and the reality competition "La Voz Kids" scoring nods. It was TV Globo that led the pack with multiple mentions throughout the categories. “Every year, the world’s television community competes to be recognized on the International Emmys global stage,” said Bruce L. Paisner, president and CEO of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. “We congratulate the Nominees for their outstanding achievements and for inspiring audiences worldwide with their creativity and talent.”

The International Emmys 2017 are set to take place on November 20th in New York City. Televisa's CEO Emilio Azcárraga Jean is set to take an honorary award for his contribution to television, ironically none of the Mexican network's programming is nominated in any of the categories. One of the most competitive category is Best Telenovela where the following series are nominated: "30 Vies – Isabelle Cousineau” from Canada, “Kara Sevda” (“Endless Love”) from Turkey, “Totalmente Demais” (“Total Dreamer”) from Brazil and “Velho Chico” (“Old River”) from Brazil.

"La Voz Kids" and "Hasta Que Te Conocí" are competing against each other in the Non-English U.S. Primetime Program along with HBO's "Sr. Ávila" and "Odisea de los Niños Migrantes" from NatGeo. Adriana Esteves also scored a nod in the Best Performance By An Actress category for her role on "Justiça."
