The most anticipated feature fans, of Apple's iPhone 5S, have been looking forward to is the highly rumored fingerprint sensor. Now thanks to a newly leaked photo we get our first look at the highly touted piece of technology. The photo leaked by Nowhereelse.fr showcases the bare hardware component for the fingerprint sensor. The picture shows the home button flex cable but its a much more complex version of the same hardware that is found inside the current generation iPhone 5.
Rumors of this fingerprint sensor the next-generation iPhone have been around for months and reference to biometric fingerprint sensor functions have been found in older versions of Apple's iOS 7 beta. We'll know for sure whether Apple has actually incorporated this feature into its next device when the company unveils it next week at their highly anticipated September 10 media event. Recent reports suggest that the fingerprint sensor will only work as a tool to unlock the iPhone 5S.
The pros to a fingerprint reader is users will have a more secured iPhone but the cons are customers who don't really care for the feature. There will be many customers who don't see the function as useful and decide not to upgrade their current generation iPhone for the next.
Apple will undoubtedly be unveiling a new iPhone at their media event in a week and it is rumored that the company has more than one to unveil. Along with the iPhone 5S a lower-cost iPhone or iPhone 5C has been circulating around the rumor mill. The phone is expected to replace Apple's current generation iPhone 5 in the smartphone lineup. The new device will have all the same features as the iPhone 5 except this one will be wrapped in a new pretty plastic shell and come in a variety of colors.
