Three months after James Holmes killed 12 people and wounded 58 wounded others at a crowded midnight screening of the new Batman movie, "The Dark Knight Rises," in Aurora, Colorado, people are interested in dressing up as Holmes for Halloween.
According to ABC News, a custom rubber Halloween mask of Holmes is up for grabs on eBay.
"SHOCK EVERYONE YOU KNOW!" the eBay ad read. "There is nothing more scary than crawling into James Holmes mind and wearing his face. His 'soul penetrating eyes' and 'The Joker' orange hair makes this mask the most disturbing object you will ever own. Imagine owning the mask of supposedly the most dangerous mass murderer in US history."
The posting has since been deleted.
In an email communication to ABC News, eBay said the ad was removed because if did not comply with its Offensive Materials Policy.
Out of respect for victims of violent crimes, eBay does not allow listings that attempt to profit from human tragedy or suffering," eBay told ABC News in an email.
Reportedly, the starting bid for the Holmes mask was $500, but there were no bids for the item before it was deleted. The mask has orange hair and pale lips to immitate what Holmes looked like as the world first glimpse of him.
The Colorado was the deadliest U.S. shooting since the Fort Hood massacre in 2009.
Holmes faced 142 criminal charges and the possibility of the death penalty and was charged with 24 counts of murder and 116 counts of attempted murder - two for each of the 12 people killed and 58 wounded. For each victim, Holmes was charged once for showing deliberation and intent to kill, and once for showing extreme indifference to human life.
He was also charged with illegally possessing explosives, a nod to the hive of booby traps found inside his apartment.
