Enjoying double digit market gains for months on end, Chrysler has just the product to keep the momentum going.

News of the wildly popular Jeep Grand Cherokee's more butch diesel variant was reported before, but now a recent trademark filings from Chrysler revealed an all-new EcoDiesel logo, which we expect will adorn a slew of future diesel products from Chrysler -- the Grand Cherokee is just the beginning. As per the vogue of the current automotive industry, any new product is expected to gain a higher rate of success with an added "Eco" designation.

Benefiting from more torque as well as higher fuel economy, the Grand Cherokee should offer a 3.0-liter diesel producing 226-hp and 406 lb.-ft. of torque, which is already offered in Europe. While we expect identical power figures for the engine offered in the North American market, the 5-speed automatic will be replaced by a more efficient 8-speed transmission for the 2014 model year, standing to greatly boost the Grand Cherokee Diesel's current 23 city and 33 highway fuel economy rating.
