Jenni Rivera fans have something to look forward to. The talked about biopic about La Diva de la Banda's life is looking better and better now with Alicia Machado, former Miss Universe turned actress, on board to play the leading role.
She spoke to Elenco about preparing to portray the singer, who tragically died Dec. 9, 2012. "I was prepping for the movie that starts shooting this August. In fact, I'll be traveling to LA in July to continue my acting classes," said the model, who's put on over 15 pounds to play the part. "I already got together with Jenni's family, with her brother Lupillo and her sister." She added.
Machado also talked about how she actually enjoyed gaining the weight for the movie. "They asked me if I could put on some pounds and I told them I had no problem with that. It feels so good to have the freedom to go from dinner to dinner and drink some wine here and there." She was also happy that she finally got to play a part where she can just enjoy her body as it is and not kill herself over certain weight requirements.
"I can't be the slave of a 25-year-old image until I'm 50. I'm 35, so I want to play 35-year-old women."
When asked if she knew Jenni Rivera, she said she spoke to her many times. They were both single mothers and they always talked about that. "She always asked about my baby girl. We had a nice relationship. I was devastated to hear the news," concluded Machado.
