Actor Jeremy Renner is in the Intensive Care Unit after suffering blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries from a snow plowing accident.

Jeremy Renner, 51, Marvel's “Hawkeye” actor, was plowing the road near his Tahoe home following a big New Year’s eve storm so that his family members could depart his residence after they celebrated the holidays together. However, while he was plowing the snow, his plow, called a snowcat, started to roll away. When Renner made an attempt to get back into the snowcat, the vehicle reportedly ran over one of his legs. Following the accident, the “Avengers” star was immediately airlifted to a nearby hospital, CNN reported.

The 51-year-old actor suffered “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries and underwent two surgeries to address his injuries on Monday, Jan. 2. He currently remains in the intensive care unit in critical but stable condition.

“As of now, we can confirm Jeremy is hospitalized in critical but stable condition with injuries suffered after experiencing a weather-related accident while plowing snow earlier today. His family is with him and he is receiving excellent care,” his rep said in a statement.

Authorities added that they do not believe Renner was intoxicated during the incident and called it “a tragic accident.”

At the time of Renner's accident, parts of western Nevada were covered with intense snow. The Reno area received around 6-12 inches of snow at elevations below 5,000 feet between New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, and up to 18 inches at higher elevations, Yahoo News reported.

Following the accident, Renner thanked his well-wishers for their “kind words” in his first post to social media since his New Year’s Day snow-plowing accident.

In a short post to Instagram, he shared a selfie reflecting some facial bruising, and wrote, “Thank you all for your kind words. I'm (sic) too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all.”

In the past, Renner has posted multiple videos and photos on his social media accounts showing snowy conditions. In one video shared two weeks ago, Renner is seen driving a snow plow, captioned, “pave new paths, holiday adventures.”
