Injured riders Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa return for title contention as the MotoGP season now heads to United States. When the two Spanish riders were M.I.A. last week, race fans expected Repsol Honda rookie Marc Marquez, Tech 3 Yamaha rider Cal Crutchlow, and Factory Yamaha rider Valentino Rossi to engage in a wild battle for podium. However, the German GP had an unlikely star in the form of Team LCR Honda rider Stefan Bradl. The young German rider ultimately finished fourth at his home grand prix.

This week, building upon astonishing momentum, Stefan Bradl has snatched his first ever MotoGP pole by leapfrogging from sixth to first on the US GP qualifying lap board in the final minutes of qualifying at Laguna Seca. Bradl moved up ahead of factory Repsol Honda's Marquez by just 0.017 seconds. Honda Gresini's Alvaro Bautista places third.

Yamaha motorcycles are not fairing as well at Laguna Seca. Valentino Rossi will lead the Yamaha bikes starting from fourth. Fellow Yamaha riders Cal Crutchlow and a recovering Jorge Lorenzo will join Rossi by locking down row two.

Fellow wounded rider Dani Pedrosa managed to bring his Repsol Honda behind Lorenzo, finishing ahead of the leading Ducati of Andrea Dovizioso as well as Tech 3 Yamaha rider Bradley Smith.

The dynamics of the 2013 MotoGP season dramatically changed following the series of highsides that injured the collarbones of the two leading MotoGP riders. After an important victory at Germany's Sachsenring, Marc Marquez leads Pedrosa by two points and Lorenzo by eleven.
