Telemundo's biggest music night is about to kick off with Premios Billboard 2017. The major event will air live from The Watsco Center at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. Ricardo Arjona was just confirmed to perform during the main show for the first time in the ceremony's history. The show will also include exciting performances by leading Cuban rhythmic duet Gente De Zona, beloved pop icon and Mexican superstar Alejandro Fernández, Puerto Rican reggaetón duo Zion & Lennox, and new Colombian pop sensation Morat.
In addition, the first list of award presenters was announced including the host of “Caso Cerrado” Ana Maria Polo; Actor Alberto Guerra & singer and actress Maria Leon stars from Telemundo's upcoming scripted drama music series “Guerra de Idolos;” Mexican-American actress and star of “Jenni Rivera: Mariposa de Barrio,” Angelica Celaya; singer and television personality Chiquis from Universo’s celeb-reality “The Riveras;” Mexican actress, and recording artist Danna Paola from Telemundo’s “La Doña”; Hollywood actors and directors Demian Bichir and Eva Longoria, from the upcoming feature film “Lowriders”; Eugenio Derbez actor and producer of “How to be a Latin Lover,” and TV host of “Al Rojo Vivo con Maria Celeste” Maria Celeste Arraras.
During the first wave of performers Nicky Jam, CNCO and Banda Sinaloense MS De Sergio Lizarraga were confirmed to take the stage of the grand night.
Nicky Jam along with Shakira lead the pack of nominations with 9 each. Scoring 8 nods were Enrique Iglesias, Los Plebes del Rancho de Ariel Camacho and Banda Sinaloense MS De Sergio Lizarraga. Rounding out the list of the most nominations were: Maluma (7), Juan Gabriel (7), J Balvin (7), Wisin (6) and Carlos Vives (6).
Urban music singer and songwriter Nicky Jam is a nine-time finalist this year, vying for Artist of the Year; Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year, Male; and Latin Rhythm Songs Artist of the Year, Solo. His chart-topping song “Hasta el Amanecer” competes for Hot Latin Song of the Year; Airplay Song of the Year; Digital Song of the Year; Streaming Song of the Year; and Latin Rhythm Song of the Year; while his collaboration with Reik on “Ya Me Entere” competes for Latin Pop Song of the Year.
Premios Billboard 2017 airs live on Thursday, April 27 at 8pm/7c on Telemundo.
