The CW has revealed the premiere date for the second season of "DC's Legends of Tomorrow." According to Den of Geek, the superhero TV series will premiere this fall on Thursday, Oct. 13.

As far as the plot is concerned, the showrunners have made it very clear that not everyone will make it to the second season.

"Legends of Tomorrow" Executive Producer Phil Klemmer spoke to IGN and shared how the production team is "determined to make every part of Season 2 feel like its own show." Klemmer said, "Episode 201 will very much be a new pilot with new good guys, new bad guys, new stakes, new dynamics, new goals. The team will basically have to find a new purpose."

He elaborated that Season 2 will see the team "no longer going to be hunted by Time Masters. They're no longer going to be burdened with having to save the world. It's no longer going to be about saving Miranda and Jonas... it's going to have a much, much different tone because our Legends are going to have a totally different purpose... There will be new faces and new everything."

As for characters, there will be at least two new heroes joining the team in Season 2. While the details are vague, we know a bit about one character. TV Line has described this role as "a male in his late-20s to mid-30s is being sought to play a guy who grew up in the shadow of his World War II hero grandfather and has used a Han Solo-like facade to conceal his insecurity — until, that is, the development of super powers enables him to live up to his family legacy."

There is also another character described as a "female member of an elite paramilitary team living in the 1940s. An African-American, she is scrutinized in her time for both her gender and race and thus has worked twice as hard to be a perfect soldier. That said, she blames herself for — and aims to avenge — the death of a team member for whom she had repressed feelings."

Furthermore, the show is on the search for a new Vixen character. While Megalyn E.K. has been well received as Mari McCabe in both the animated "Vixen" series as well as her guest appearance in "Arrow" Season 4, the actress' other commitments will not let her return for the role at this time.

Instead of recasting E.K., the show will instead introduce a new Vixen who will actually be an alternate version of Vixen. Thanks to Rip Hunter's (Arthur Darvill) affinity for time-traveling, viewers will meet an earlier version of the character who may or may not share some history with E.K.'s character. Casting is currently ongoing for the role.
