A man reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest and died after he fell 30 feet down while trimming a tree in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, Oct. 25.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was trimming trees from a ladder on the 400 block of Division Avenue in Ellwood City when a tree branch he was cutting fell and knocked the ladder out from underneath the man. The man lost his balance, fell about 30 feet down and became suspended on a rope, CBS News reported.

After falling about 30 feet down, the man was left suspended in the air for more than 20 minutes. Since the man was left suspended for a long period of time, he suffered a cardiac arrest.

The man was lowered to the ground and rescued and was immediately rushed to UPMC Jameson for treatment. However, despite the efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the hospital, Ellwood City Ledger reported.

In a similar but unrelated incident, a man died after being pinned and crushed by a large branch while he was cutting down trees in Fairfax, Olivia, Minnesota on Tuesday, Sept. 13, as previously reported.

Officers from the Renville County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call requesting an ambulance after a tree fell on a man at around 10:43 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 13. Following this, officers responded to the address on 320th Street in Henryville Township, southwest of Olivia, and found 69-year-old Blair Anderson, of Fairfax, lying on the ground near several downed trees.

Anderson was reportedly cutting down trees in a grove on a rural farm site when a large branch connected to another tree broke off and fell on top of him. Even though Anderson was wearing head, eye, and ear protection, he suffered grievous injuries in the incident.

Medical personnel attempted life-saving measures on the 69-year-old man. However, Anderson succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene.

The Renville County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Olivia Ambulance Service, Olivia Fire and Rescue, Olivia Area Technical Rescue Team, and Life Link III in the operation.
