A man was allegedly killed by two of his friends for passing sarcastic comments while they were drinking together in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India.

The 35-year-old victim Vivek Tyagi, a resident of Mohammad Pur Kadeem village in Modinagar, reportedly went missing on Feb. 2 after a night hanging out with some pals. Following reports of his disappearance, the police registered a First Information Report (FIR) under section 364 (kidnapping or abducting in order to murder) of the Indian Penal Code and launched an investigation into the incident, the Times Of India reported.

After almost a month-long investigation, the officers finally received a tip-off regarding the identity of the suspects. The authorities subsequently intercepted one of the accused's cars and nabbed the two suspects, Ritu Tyagi and Mohit Tyagi, for the alleged murder.

After the police interrogated the suspect, they admitted to the officers that they got into a heated argument with Tyagi after he made sarcastic remarks about them during a booze session in early February. The two accused, after being offended by his snide remarks, smacked the victim in the head while under the influence of alcohol and, in a fit of rage, killed him on the spot, Times Now reported.

After murdering the victim, the duo dumped his corpse into the Ganga canal to dispose of it.

Meanwhile, the Superintendent of Police (rural) Iraj Raja, added that the accused have been arrested and that the car used in the disposal of the victim's body has been confiscated.

In a similar but unrelated incident, a 22-year-old man identified as Sayeel Jadhav was reportedly knifed to death between 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 28, in Thane City, Maharashtra, India, after he engaged in a heated argument about the online game PUBG (PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds) with his three friends, including the main accused Pranav Koli, Latin Times reported.

Following the violent incident, the police questioned locals who said they frequently spotted the four friends hanging out near the local school and saw them, in the last couple of days, regularly drinking alcohol, playing online games, and getting into constant fights with each other.

On Monday, Feb. 28, Jadhav and his friends played PUBG and later went on a drunken binge. After getting visibly inebriated, the friends had gotten into a tussle over the game. During the altercation, in a fit of rage, the two underage boys, allegedly stabbed Jadhav with a sharp weapon in his chest, back, knees, and head, killing him on the spot. The assailants quickly fled the spot.

The officers subsequently recovered Jadhav's body and sent the remains for an autopsy. Following the incident, the officers conducted an investigation into the incident and arrested Koli and the two minor boys on Tuesday, March. 1. A case of murder under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 302 (punishment for murder) was also registered against them.
