A senior citizen was rescued by cops after he was found in a rather ruinous state, with his lips sewn together with a rope, tied to a railway track near Bhitihara village in Jharkhand. The incident occurred near Sigsigi cabin on Wednesday, and the victim has been identified as Bhola Ram, aged 65.

Ram opened up to cops and revealed that the attack occurred after he had gone to the washroom on Tuesday night when three men including his stepson had cornered him. They reportedly performed gruesome acts that included thrashing him and stitching his lips with a rope, followed by tying his hands and legs before dumping him at a nearby railway track, India Today reported.

Ram alleged that they tied him to railway track soon after and fled the scene. He further reiterated that the incident occurred at around 11pm and it wasn’t until morning that he was removed from the tracks by villagers who found him in a deplorable state the next day. Villagers alerted cops at the earliest, while Ram was rushed to a nearby hospital.

While the police have launched a further probe into the matter, it has been claimed that Ram’s second wife allegedly had a role to play in the attack. There has been no confirmation or evidence in this regard as yet.

As reported by Catch News, Ram married for the second time in 2010 after the death of his first wife. It has been noted that things were not well between Ram and his wife, which was brought before the panchayat six months ago.

No arrests have been made so far as the case is still underway.

In another gruesome incident, a 34-year-old man slit his throat with a liquor bottle while being in an inebriated state. The deceased man has been identified as Bhagyaraj, a resident of Ayyapan Nagar at Ayapakkam in Thiruvallur district. He was reportedly confronted by police for consuming alcohol in the open, shortly before he died on his way to the hospital. Bhagyaraj worked as an auto driver and is survived by his wife and two kids.
