To date, it remains unclear who will be taking on the role of James Bond. Daniel Craig wrapped up his run as 007 back in October and there have been several names tipped to succeed him.

Tom Hardy, the actor who headlines “Venom” was one of the top bets. However, it appears another actor who took on a high-profile role, Henry Cavill, has allegedly moved ahead of the 44-year-old actor.

Cavill is best known for his starring role as “Superman” or the “Man of Steel.” The 39-year-old actor has also had spy-themed roles, having appeared in films such as “Mission Impossible: Fallout” and “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.”

Cavill has reportedly passed Hardy as the new favorite to be the next James Bond according to the betting website, Ladbrokes.

He is ranked at no. 1, now ahead of Bridgerton's Regé-Jean Page who is at second. Hardy is at third. Cavill leads the pack with 3/1 odds while Page and Hardy are close behind with 7/2 and 6/1 odds respectively.

Cavill was one of the finalists when a recast was made for James Bond in the 2006 film, “Casino Royale.” However, Craig got the nod.

This time around, it appears a video posted on social media may have boosted the odds in Cavill’s favor.

In an advertisement for No 1 Botanicals herbal drinks, Cavill could be seen donning a well-tailored suit and walking past a silver Aston Martin DB5. For those who are familiar with the 007 films, these are seemingly references that link Cavill to a potential 007 role.

For now, it appears the ad was in no way trying to spur something. However given his past appearances, it would make sense unless showrunners have someone in mind to be the next James Bond to succeed Daniel Craig.
