An Indian man's intestines reportedly burst leaving him grievously injured and suffering severe internal damage after his friends "jokingly" inserted an air compressor up his rectum in Delhi, India on Tuesday, June 29, authorities said.

The shocking incident reportedly happened at the victim's workplace, a snack manufacturing unit in H Block, Sector 63 in Ghaziabad, Noida, near Delhi, India.

The victim, identified as Sandeep Kumar, 28, is in critical condition after his two friends allegedly shoved an air compressor up his rectum and released the pressure. Kumar, who tried to escape reportedly started vomiting blood and was rushed to Tripathi Hospital in Sector 119 by his workmates. He was then referred to ESIC Hospital and was subsequently shifted to another hospital in Sector 33, Prakash Hospital. Doctors said that a part of Kumar's small intestines and rectum have exploded and that the recovery could take up to six months, India Today reported.

Meanwhile, the two accused have reportedly been identified as Ankit, a resident of Ghaziabad's Vijay Nagar, and Gautam, a resident of Noida Sector 62.

"On Tuesday, he left the house for work around 7 pm, like any other day. He works as an operator at the unit. He reached at 8 p.m. and about three hours later, we got information that he has been admitted to a hospital," said Subhash, Kumar's brother. Kumar previously suffered from Jaundice and had to undergo treatment for a long time, Subhash added.

"When the patient was brought in, his stomach was inflated and part of his small intestines and rectum had burst," said Aruna Reddy, who works as a senior resident doctor at the hospital.

Reddy added that a pipe has been attached to Kumar's stomach to act as an excretory tract. "The recovery might take up to six months. Till then, a urine bag will be attached to his stomach. He cannot eat anything," Reddy said.

When the suspects were questioned by the police, they reportedly told the cops that they were just only "joking" with each other. However, the victim's family suspects that there is an unknown motive behind the attack, Times Now reported.

Kumar reportedly told Subhash at the hospital that four or five other men were present during the attack, mocking him. Subhash also revealed that some local goons allegedly threatened him and his family to hush up the case.

Abdul Qadir, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) of Central Noida, said that the duo attacked Kumar following a heated argument at the workplace.

He added that a First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged against the two accused under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 307 (attempt to murder). Qadir added that the suspects were produced in a civil court in Noida and that they have been remanded in judicial custody.
