Although the holiday season is among us, many people all over the world are suffering major losses, including former New York Knicks center Marcus Camby. It is being reported that the former basketball star found his autistic nephew dead on his property over the Thanksgiving holiday.

According to The Houston Chronicle, Camby's 9-year-old autistic nephew passed away on Thanksgiving. The former basketball star was celebrating the holiday with about 20 family members when his nephew, Marcus McGhee, went missing.

McGhee went missing while playing with other children inside the home. Security cameras reveal that the young boy left alone outside of a side door befpre wandering off the property. The adults didn't notice that he was missing until 4:15p.m. The family searched the residence in and out until the police arrived.

Pearland Police Lt. Onesimo Lopez tells the publication that the retired basketball star's residence had "lots of rooms, lots of places where people can hide," Lopez said. "Each room opens to a different room. It's almost like a labyrinth."

Police arrived at about 4:45 p.m. and began searching the house and the dense property, which includes a small lake in its center. Unfortunately, the boy's body was discovered about 7 a.m. in the water of an L-shaped lake behind Camby's sprawling home.

The family who you can imagine is going through a rough time has been receiving an outpour of support. About 1,000 gathered at a softball field in Pearland on Saturday evening to mourn the death of the 9-year-old.

"Even in the midst of such tragedy, there is so much to be thankful for," Pastor Keith Anderson, the Pearland Police Department's senior chaplain, told the crowd. "For everyone who searched for Marcus, thanks. But I want you to under-stand, life now goes on."
