Meghan Markle is currently in talks to receive a prestigious award after her husband, Prince Harry, opened up about unconscious racism during a recent interview. However, the Duchess of Sussex may not receive the award if Kensington Palace won’t pave the way for it to happen.

According to Express, the event organizers from HSBC UK Ethnicity Awards are currently in talks with Kensington Palace. They are asking permission for Meghan to be allowed to attend the awarding ceremony. The “Suits” alum may bring home the Inspirational Public Figure prize in the coming weeks.

The HSBC UK Ethnicity Awards is known for recognizing individuals, charitable organizations and various brands that are doing their part in improving the lives of those who belong to the ethnic minorities. Sarah Garrett MBE, founder of Ethnicity Awards, credited Meghan for setting a good example for women across the globe.

“The 2019 Ethnicity Awards works to promote the achievements of ethnic minorities and strives to improve lack of representation,” she said. “In the current social climate, it’s imperative to advocate and celebrate the positive impact of ethnic minorities in the UK. It’s great to see so many celebrities, influencers, brands and politicians’ commitment to raising awareness, and who work so hard to improve equality,” she added.

Meanwhile, Meghan also made headlines this week after she celebrated her 38th birthday. On her special day, Prince William and Kate Middleton greeted the Duchess of Sussex via the Kensington Palace Instagram account. The couple chose to upload a photo of themselves with Meghan, Prince Charles and Prince Harry from 2018.

Royal expert Angela Mollard said that the strategic choice in the photo gave away the subtle hint that Prince William and Kate have not spent time with Meghan in months. It also heightened speculations that the Fab Four actually feuded.

“It’s very, very strategic although I wonder how many actual pictures they have with the four of them together unprompted,” Mollard told “This Morning.” “I don’t think they’ve spent much time together. That’s quite an old picture, shall we point out? That was from Christmas time so they obviously don’t have a picture of themselves together from the past eight months,” she added.
