At the 2026 edition of Orlando MEGACON, Luke Cage actor spoke about his character potentially returning and having a child with fellow Marvel superhero Jessica Jones. Jones, as played by Krysten Ritter, will return in the upcoming second season of Daredevil: Born Again, raising questions about Luke Cage's potential return.
While speaking at a panel reflecting on his long career as an actor in Hollywood, The Latin Times asked the "Evil" actor what he thought of reprising his iconic Marvel role in the future. Colter replied that "it makes sense."
In the early 2010s, Marvel collaborated with Netflix to create numerous television series based on their street-level characters, which included Daredevil, The Punisher, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist. Colter first appeared as the character in the first season of "Jessica Jones" before getting his own TV series in 2016.
Netflix decided to end its collaboration with Marvel when Marvel's parent company, Disney, began developing its own streaming platform, Disney+, and canceled all of its Marvel shows in 2019. Colter reflected on the cancellation during the panel as well, stating that he "was probably not as shocked as most people were," and that his second daughter was born when he was told the show would not be getting a third season, so his "mind wasn't in that place."
However, in 2022, Marvel announced "Daredevil: Born Again," a continuation of the original "Daredevil" series on Netflix with Cox, D'Onofrio, and various other actors reprising their roles from the Netflix show.
Marvel Television head Brad Winderbaum would later confirm that the Netflix Marvel series were canon to the MCU, and in late 2025 at New York Comic Con, it was announced that Krysten Ritter would be returning as Jessica Jones in season 2 of "Daredevil: Born Again," which is set to premiere on Disney+ this Tuesday.

However, this has raised the question as to whether Colter's Luke Cage, who eventually marries and has a daughter with Jones in the comics, would appear as well. The Latin Times also asked Colter how he felt about his character could forgive and get back with Jones, and he replied, "Well, it's a toxic relationship. Of course he can forgive her. That's how it goes."
When asked about his feelings on his character becoming a father, Colter said, "It's been written, and it makes sense. Um, you know, and, um, was it planned? I don't know, but anyway, you know, I mean, it's just one of those things and, uh. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, why not? You know, why not? It's that'd be kind of crazy. Yeah. But. Sure."
Colter last appeared as Luke Cage in a guest-starring role in the third and final season of "Jessica Jones" on Netflix in 2019.
