The second season of the Netflix Original Series "Marvel's Jessica Jones" will not rely entirely on Krysten Ritter's character, showrunner Melissa Rosenberg has revealed.

Rosenberg and her crew spent the first season fleshing out the secondary characters such as Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor), Malcolm Ducasse (Eka Darville), Carrie-Anne Moss (Jeri Hogarth) and Will Simpson (Wil Traval), so that they would be able to carry their own stories in the second season.

The showrunner revealed that the secondary characters had to earn their stories. Rosenberg told Nerdist, "That's the trick of a show called Jessica Jones," especially in the first season. "If she's not in the scene, it's not a guarantee that scene will end up in the final picture."

Rosenberg is hopeful she will be able to give Ritter "a day off in the six-month period." She went on to commend Ritter on her work ethic.

"This is a very, very hardworking woman," Rosenberg added. "I think it's important that there be some balance."

Meanwhile, Ritter confirmed earlier this week that both Netflix series "The Defenders" and "Jessica Jones" second season will film back-to-back.

"They'll be back-to-back," Ritter told DigitalSpy. "I don't know if they'll overlap a little bit."

Ritter also gave some insight into the second season of "Jessica Jones," saying that the character will need to deal with the resolution of Killgrave (David Tennant) and teased that viewers may see different Marvel characters appear.

"Kilgrave was her reason for getting up every morning. Saving people gave her purpose," she said. "I wonder how emotionally taxed she's going to be now. That opens a lot of doors as to who will come out and play. We all live in the same universe, so there are endless possibilities."

The series was renewed for a second season of 13 episodes earlier this year.
